Representative Chad Hays Named Legislator of the Year at Illinois Governor’s Conference on Tourism

In recognition of his efforts to promote economic growth and tourism in Central Illinois, State Representative Chad Hays (R-Catlin) received the Legislator of the Year Award this week at the Illinois Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Springfield.

Hays was nominated for the award by leaders from "Visit Champaign County" and the Danville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Representative Chad Hays has consistently championed on behalf of the Illinois tourism industry, understanding its important role in driving economic growth and creating jobs,” said Jayne DeLuce, Executive Director of Visit Champaign County. “He is a great friend and advocate for both Visit Champaign County and the Danville Area CVB, in bringing events and activities that support our economy and improve our quality of life.”

The award was given out Monday evening at the Illinois Excellence in Tourism Awards Dinner, on the first day of the three-day conference. In accepting the award, Hays thanked his two local bureaus for the nomination and for the work they do to showcase East Central Illinois. “We are blessed to have tremendous convention and visitors bureaus in both Vermilion and Champaign counties,” said Hays. “I’m honored to work closely with both of these groups to promote tourism and the hospitality industries in this part of the state and recognize the vital role that tourism plays throughout Illinois.”
